Today was the worst day ever…….(?)

Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that,
There’s something good in every day,
Because when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place,
Even if,
Some goodness does shine through once in a while,
Satisfaction and happiness don’t last,
And it’s not true that,
It’s all in the mind and the heart,
True happiness can be obtained,
Only if one’s surroundings are good,
It’s not true that good exists,
I’m sure you can agree that,
The reality,
My attitude,
It’s all beyond my control,
And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that,
Today was a good day.

Catching up with friends

Diane McGavin

Have you ever had the chance to meet up with someone that you’ve admired for quite a while, even become friends with ?  Incredibly that happened to little old me recently when the gorgeous Diane and Angela came to London to see the recent Kate Bush concert (lucky moos, my time will come) They’re such lovely people, friendly, fun, chatty, have wonderful smiles and one of them is even a star Author on Amazon with her books regularly appearing in Amazons top ten as well as Goodreads……………

But what do you say to someone like that for that all important first meeting ?  You want to make a good impression obviously, but something funny ?  just a simple hello ? Maybe even a you look nice or its so lovely to see you ?  Being my own woman I went for the totally original – “Doing the tourist thing and shopping for cookies eh ?” and then followed it up with a creepy stalker moment following them around Harrods (They’re so down to earth)

Thankfully though it wasn’t long before we all recovered by the olives in the delicatessen, relaxed and tried the “hello” thing instead. That seemed to work better and my nerves settled  Nearly four hours later, and our  “Ladies that do lunch”, souvenir shopping, (WOW, just how many teddies, handbags, chocolate and cookies do two people need ?)  obligatory photos with the legendary doorman Michael Pinsker and hearing of the wonders of earl grey fudge (you can find it just the left of the confectionary section, just of the side entrance) and our first meeting was over.  Can’t wait to do it all again, lots more, but not before I’ve read all the lovely pressies they bought with them.

The only downside was when they posted a video of one of the songs from the concert online – note to self must be strong and resist.

Meeting Suzie Carr though ?  I’m not ready for that quite yet !!!

Spank or Treat 2014 With #EvilMistressKate

spank or treat

So, today was kindof an unusual day – sat at home, chatting to friends on whatsapp (I’m so techno) when I get an email saying that I’ve been made an ambassador for something called “Spank or Treat 2014″…………

Immediately suspecting I was about to get the offer of a lifetime from a long lost relative in Nigeria who only needed a small donation to unlock a sizeable fortune, I was preparing to consign the email to the spam folder when I spotted the senders email address…………  None other than the wooden spoon loving, cookie baking, granny knitting (yes you read that right – I’m not sure either) , closet shoe lover (OMG, I’d say get a room, but she has one, full of shoes)  – Anastasia Vitsky……..

Intrigued, I opened the email with the wonder of a small kid expectant of the surprise that awaited..  It seemed that I had been nominated by Ameliah to join in Anastasia’s Halloween event on Facebook “Spank or treat”.  Even as Naïve as I am, this didn’t sound like the kindof Halloween party I was used to, so I visited the Facebook event page (There’s a link at the bottom of this blog post) intrigued.

A quick scan through the posts and it turns out that its a book Halloween book event !!! (Cue relief) there are a number of authors and reviewers participating, answering questions and spreading the word .  Even better there’s going to be prizes and book giveaways !!!!! (Cue YAY – FREE STUFF !!!)  So why not come along and say hi ?  If you like you can come and join me sat in the corner being all shy, wondering what is going on, or even better, join in, have some fun, make some new friends and maybe even win some cool stuff.  Sounds a lot better than what you were going to do ……………………………..

If you’re on Facebook, you can catch the event at the below link

Word is Anastasia is even preparing a book……

Breaking up is hard to do

It must be something about this time of year, three couples I know have decided to break up and all three have ended beyond acrimoniously.

Two, everyone was expecting, neither couple had been doing well for a while and it was almost a relief for all their friends when they decided to part ways. The trouble is though, friends have become like posessions to be divided up and awarded custody of in the aftermath. You become part of the break up, how do you not choose sides ? How do they not force you to ?

The most recent one was one that caught me out, I never expected these two guys to break up. Not in a million years, She’s incredible, just blow your mind incredible with the amount of compassion and love that she has to give. He’s a pretty cool guy too, on a journey of discovery, which you can’t help but wish him all the best with. They seemed so happy, but in reality weren’t and the ensuing breakup has been terrible for everyone that knows them.

The good thing is that all three couples have survived that initial break up and taking lumps out of one another. The hard part now starts, building lives of their own and helping them all through it.  If only there were rules for this sort of thing,  I guess there are, they’re called damage control ?
